Companies have been driving their hiring practices and organization policies to consider and use diversity. However, just because you hire a diverse team doesn’t automatically mean that the company will reap the benefits. Inclusion MUST be intentional to be able to celebrate the awards of all the different work styles, communication styles, ages, backgrounds, cultures, etc.
Yes, one of the first steps to diversity is to have a workforce that is reflective of the community the company serves. Unfortunately, that just isn’t enough. Companies should be aware of the differences and be willing to tap into the difference. After gaining the knowledge, one would have more of an opportunity of INCLUDING the diversity into the appropriate projects, work groups, etc.
